Five years ago, I had never even read the word “cannabinoid,” let alone pronounced it. (For the record, it’s cuh-NAB-in-oid.) Sure, I’d eaten hemp hearts on my homemade yogurt (like every good crunchy dad), and I figured there was some kind of genetic connection between hemp and marijuana plants—but I hadn’t really given it much thought. Like a lot of people, I assumed cannabis was mostly about getting high.
I had seen it used in pretty amazing ways to treat severe pain and cancer, but it wasn’t “for me.” I was afraid of getting high (still am, by the way).
But as it turns out, there’s more to this plant than I ever imagined—and it has nothing to do with getting high or sprinkling superfoods on your smoothie. Cannabis topicals can help with pain, inflammation, tension, and skin irritation—without the high.
What “Full-Spectrum” Actually Means
When you see the term full-spectrum, it means the product contains the entire range of natural compounds found in the hemp plant—not just CBD. That includes a small amount of THC, as well as what are often called “minor cannabinoids” like CBG, CBN, and CBC. It also includes terpenes and flavonoids, which are the plant’s natural aroma and flavor compounds.
Together, these elements work in synergy—something scientists call the entourage effect. It’s not hype. It’s actually how the plant is designed to function. The idea is simple: when you leave the whole system intact, it works better.
How That’s Different From Isolate Products
The vast majority of Canadian topicals on the market use CBD isolate—a single compound pulled out of the plant and stripped of everything else. Isolate is easier to work with, more predictable to produce, and simpler to market. But in my experience (and in the feedback we hear from customers), it just doesn’t have the same impact.
To me, isolate-based topicals are like playing a guitar with one string.
Full-spectrum? That’s the whole instrument.
Why This Matters for Regular People (Like Me)
If you’re someone who wants to feel better, move more easily, sleep more deeply, or just give your body something supportive without turning to pharmaceuticals—full-spectrum hemp is worth your attention.
And no—you will NOT get high. These topicals are non-psychoactive. You’re not absorbing THC into your bloodstream. You’re applying cannabinoids through the skin, where they interact with local receptors in your body’s various systems to support recovery, balance, and calm.
We’ve heard from seniors with stiff joints, hockey players with old injuries, and nurses on their feet all day—people who are just trying to live more comfortably. And time after time, they say the same thing:
“I was skeptical, but this actually works.”
One elderly woman recently borrowed the Frank’s Hot Sauce slogan to describe her conversion to our topical:
“I put that sh** on everything.”
I laughed—but honestly, her story isn’t unique. Full-spectrum topicals are incredibly underrated, and Canada is slowly figuring it out.
Bottom Line
I didn’t come into this industry as a cannabis expert—I came in as a guy looking for natural relief. I wanted to turn away from my ibuprofen-popping ways and try something that worked with my body, not against it.
What I’ve learned is this: when you use the whole plant, you get the whole benefit. That’s why we make full-spectrum products. It’s more expensive. It takes more time. But it works.
